Executive Coaching

Having identified opportunities for management development and/or improvement of performance, organisations may want to look at alternatives to formal training courses.

Key areas of performance improvement you might identify as being:

  • Meeting milestones and deadlines for the completion of tasks.
  • Communicating appropriate information to colleagues to support delivery and quality of services.
  • Providing appropriately analysed information.
  • Delivering ideas and solutions within their remit.
  • Management and delegation of work.

The purpose of any coaching intervention is to support improvement in identified performance areas. Coaching support focuses on improving understanding of the role and translating these into actions. Throughout the process participants are provided with tools and techniques which enable them to make performance improvements in their current role in relation to the identified areas in which they require to make improvements.

Executive coaching can be delivered in association with a sponsor, who will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating and ensuring the appropriate improvement in performance.

The Abacus coaching approach uses a “classic” five element model of the management function to focus on the role of a manager:

Facilitation

We believe that the role of the facilitator is crucial to delivering successful outcomes, providing development opportunities to staff, achieving organisational and team goals and the overall progression of the organisation.

Facilitation will help you maximise the valuable time that you and your colleagues spend in group working situations. Facilitation aims to bring structure and give direction to your team meetings, making them productive, focused and effective. This leaves you free to address the key objectives and outcomes of the meeting. Our facilitator aims at setting the tone, establishing a clear direction, monitoring the use of time, keeping the discussion on topic, seeing that everyone gets a hearing, mediating disputes and ensuring that action flows from the conclusions reached.

Specifically our approach concentrates on the achievement of:

  • Stated Outcomes - the group will examine and clarify the objectives of the meeting and the route to achievement of the overall outcomes.
  • Format - we assist in the development and agreement of processes and rules for the group in order that the most efficient methodology is achieved in delivering objectives.
  • Team Roles - a facilitator guides team members to promote and understand group dynamics, thereby addressing any imbalances that may exist, identifying how these can be overcome and the most efficient way for team members to work together within their roles.
  • Interpersonal Skills - facilitation ensures individuals within a team take responsibility for their inputs and develop their own interpersonal skills and contribution.
  • Conflict – The facilitator can mange conflict whilst helping individuals to manage their own response to change and / or challenging situations.
